The HungryGoWhere Awards Season Food Trail

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset
The HungryGoWhere Awards Season is back! Remember the inaugural ‘100% people’s choice’ food and beverage awards last year? We saw Chye Seng Huat Hardware being voted as “Best Café for Coffee” and Wild Rocket for “Best Modern Singaporean Restaurant”. This year, we want to gather all foodies again to celebrate our hawker, restaurants, cafés and dishes that we Singaporeans are proud of. You can now even vote for the “Best Bak Chor Mee”, “Best Roti Prata”, “Best Char Kway Teow” and more! I’m sure that many of us will have a certain stall that we stubbornly stay loyal to, to satisfy our occasional cravings.

Let me bring you on a trail of 3 restaurants before I reveal how you can participate in this year’s HungryGoWhere Awards and stand to meet Michelin Star chefs! Oh yes, no prize for guessing but the first is Mellben Signature!

First Stop: Mellben Signature
Eligible Category: Best Restaurant, Chinese Cuisine
Embarrassingly, it was my first time at Mellben. Yes, I’m a true-blue Singaporean, in case you are wondering. Well, better late than never! Over at our first pit stop, we had the luxury to savour their Creamy Butter Crab ($65++/KG), and it was delish! The cream was thick and silky, best with fried mantous. The flesh itself was meaty and firm, it was simply decadent. Appetisers definitely started off well for me.

Second Stop: Escape Restaurant & Lounge @ One Farrer Hotel
Eligible Category: Best (Others), Best Buffet
After some whole crabs for starters, we were headed to a buffet dinner. Lucky us! I’ll let my photos do the talking.

At $60++ per person for weekday buffet dinner, I wouldn’t say it’s the cheapest. While I have my favourite buffet restaurant in mind (my one and only true buffet love – Colony), Escape definitely provides a myriad of local and international cuisines from its interactive open kitchen, with extremely friendly chefs to feed you (like chopping your chicken drumstick).

Third Stop: Tiger’s Milk

Eligible Category: Best (Others), Best Bar/Lounge
After all that hype, I was really happy to be (finally) checking Tiger’s Milk out. It is a very pretty and intimate rooftop bar atop the shophouses at Ann Siang, with a peek of the CBD skyline. If you want to be romantic, this is the place to bring your date to. Being Singapore’s first Peruvian-inspired rooftop bar and grill, you will be able to enjoy the vibrant flavours of Peru through their extensive food menu and pisco-infused concoctions. Happy to say that I was blown away.

The Wagyu Beef Rib was hands-down my favourite dish of the night. At only $14, I promise it will be well worth your money. The taste of the grill was aromatic and the beef was very tender, with a perfect balance of meat and fats. The topping called chimicurri added the extra tartness and fragrance. Wash these finger food down with their signature cocktails and you’ll soon be swooning over life. 🙂 Tiger’s Milk has definitely won over my vote as the “Best Bar/Lounge”.

As promised earlier, here are the ways that you can participate in the #HGWawards! Simply cast your votes via social media by posting a public post on your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with these two hashtags: #HGWawards and #(business name).Voting is also open online at http://awards.hungrygowhere.com.
