Hotel Review: Village Hotel Katong @ Marine Parade

A home away from home, quite literally, as my house is a few minutes’ walk to Village Hotel Katong! What used to be Paramount Hotel and a very popular Tunglok branch in the basement, the building is now converted into a boutique hotel by Far East Hospitality that retains the Peranakan roots of this district and houses a mini mall behind (where Group Therapy cafe is at). The facade of the hotel saw no change, but its interiors were given a complete overhaul. For this staycay, I booked the Club Room, complete with Club facilities at about $300.
Yep, for Club Rooms, the bathtub is just next to the bed! I’m loving the blue theme across the room.
Incredibly spacious, you can have a mini dance in the room! Look at how all the elements of the Peranakan heritage come together!
Comfy King-sized bed.

View of the bathtub/bathroom.
The shower sits inside the bathroom, with a sliding door that goes out to the bathtub. Pretty convenient!
Usual amenities are all provided here.
Checking out the club facilities!

Some light snacks for tea.
A tiny circular swimming pool.
After dinner we headed back to the Club Lounge again! More finger food available this time!

Fancy a drink before sleep?

We went back to the Club Lounge for breakfast the next day and was rather disappointed at the limited selection, hence no photos. I think breakfast buffet at the main restaurant would have fared better! That said, for a Club Room and a relatively new hotel, the pricing is very reasonable. Luxury on budget? Check.
