Do.Main Bakery is not your usual wannabe French café. Helmed by Chef Frédéric Deshayes, this is one café that you must not miss if you’re in love with all pastries French. Armed with a wealth of experience from his stints all around the world, including Pierre Hermé (omg!), he returned to Singapore to teach at At-Sunrice culinary school for 9 years before becoming an entrepreneur today. From sandwiches to quiches and desserts, you name it, they have it. However, don’t expect your usual egg benedicts here!

Bacon Quiche ($8) – This was one of the best quiches I’ve had. I remember having found my favourite one at Carpenter & Cook and I believe that this comes close to that. Warmed before serving, the custard is soft and filled with bacon goodness. It’s just simple things in life that’s being done right that makes the experience so satisfying. Yes, the price may be more premium too, but I strongly believe that you pay for quality. Even the salad on the side was fresh!
After my meal, I’ve decided to pack home some goodies. I couldn’t decide between the two and asked the server which one I should pick. He said he loves both and I heeded his advice. No regrets.
Salted Caramel Eclair ($5) – The taste of salted caramel cut across distinctively; it was a balance of sweet and salty. Love the choux pastry!
Cream Puff ($5) – Similarly, the choux pastry was divine, of buttery fragrance and airy bites. Filled generously, the cream wasn’t overly sweet as well. Delicious!
To me, Do.Main Bakery fills to gap of authentic French pastry and affordable pricing. What’s there not to love, especially when it’s in my ‘hood?
