Flock Café @ Moh Guan Terrace, Tiong Bahru

Tiong Bahru may have lost its novelty of being our go-to brunch place (since we’ve done so too many times), I’m glad that every now and then, when I explore another side of the road, I find a new gem. Though Flock Café isn’t exactly the latest addition to the town by the time I’m writing this (another long overdue post, you must understand), my taste memory of the food served here was a fond one.

Alfresco sitting without the cleanest air, yet you may be left with no choice.

Simple yet stylish interior. No pretense at all.

Cheeky Eggs [2 poached eggs, braised pork cheek, rocket, hollandaise sauce & english muffin] ($16.90) – I think I might have just forgotten the existence of smoked salmon and stay with pork-eggs-ben every time. The meat was so tender and delicious, without any tough and rough bits you normally find in kong-ba-baos. Also, look at how the egg flows. I really appreciated the fact that those english muffins were not toasted too hard but retained its softness in its freshness, which wonderfully soaked up the sauces. Great execution!

Eggs Sally [2 poached eggs, smoked salmon, rocket, hollandaise sauce & english muffin] ($15.90) – For the more traditional ones, smoked salmon option is still available!

Scrambled Eggs & Croissant w Smoked Salmon [OR bacon] ($14.90) – Another memorable brunch dish. I first had a spoonful of scrambled eggs as they were simply too tempting and it sure did not disappoint. It was a right balance between creamy and watery. A far cry from what you get at a certain fast food chain, this is one dish that is worth every cent. I loved everything on this plate, right down to the seasoned cucumbers! A must-order at Flock Café.

Banana French Toast & Crispy Bacon ($13.90) – Sharing this is a must as the french toasts were thick, dense and fluffy. It gave me ‘the high’ on the first few mouthfuls but it soon wore off as it got more and more difficult working through it. My bacon-lover friends loved their bacons though!

Cake Selection – I did not go into the specifics of the cakes as I did not fancy them at all. If you love your cake extremely dense, this may work for you. However, my friends and I abandoned the cakes halfway and headed to Plain Vanilla Café down the road instead! Hope you’ve picked up that hint!

Flock Café has one of the most yummy and hearty brunch dishes in my opinion but you may want to hop elsewhere to the many dessert shops Tiong Bahru has to offer. Head down earlier to grab a good table indoors or call to reserve!

I had their Banana Cake before – bit too wet to my liking. However, I also had their excellent cheesecake I thought one evening, the base was so crispy and crunchy coupled with the tangy lemony cream cheese.Anyways, I’d still rather go to other cafes for more intense cups as they are so many out there to cover.
